This afternoon we pushed ourselves an extra few miles to get to GAllipolis boat club. Showers and toilets! Long day on the river but we are safe and sound and warm and about to have dinner.
Morning stop in Pomeroy,Ohio
Three women greeted us enthusiastically at this gift shop, Weaving Stitches,
. One of them, Eloise, was the woman who took us to McDonald’s.
Lunch time on the river
Not every view on the Ohio is as pretty as most of what we have seen. This picture gives you a feeling for that.
Morning stop
Having left our campsite in Syracuse Ohio at 7 o’clock this morning we paddled for a few miles and found civilization in Pomeroy, Ohio. Even McDonald’s looks good when you’re hungry and need a bathroom. Karen adds but only if it’s breakfast.
Syracuse Ohio
We paddled about 25 miles today. We had strong head winds for about 5 miles that exhausted us. Now we are in Syracuse Ohio and Karen has gone off with a woman to get ice. Next we will find a campground. The river is finally very quiet and glasslike and it’s a beautiful evening. we can’t seem to upload any photos from where we are so you’ll have to wait for those.

We had some fun today making a sale from a tarp and it actually moved us along pretty quickly. You’ll have to wait till I can upload videos to the blog to see it.
Beautiful day
We had a beautiful campsite last night. We woke up to mist on the river. We managed to get ourselves started early enough that we were still in the Mist when we started. We have paddled about 8 miles already this morning.

Hunkering in for the night
Managed 25 miles on the river today . Again the river didn’t help us very much and we had to earn every mile. We had many kindnesses along the way and now we have a beautiful campsite and a beautiful evening with fireflies on the Ohio River out of front door.
Barking dogs
We were lucky to get a beautiful campsite last night right along the Little Hocking river. We were unlucky enough to hear dogs barking nearby literally ALL night. They sounded at times like they were killing each other. We’ll paddle for a bit this morning and then find somewhere to nap in the heat of the day.
